We, the European Christian Political Youth, are concerned about ongoing violence towards peaceful protestors in Belarus. Based on the fact that the right to protest is an indivisible value of a democratic society, we condemn severe violations of this right in Belarus.
Based on the principle of human dignity, protecting rights of individuals, civil society, opposition political parties, and media, are among the major values of a free society. An obligation of governments is to ensure these freedoms, not to deprive them.
ECPYouth expresses support towards the political rights of people of Belarus, such as freedom of election, freedom of assembly, freedom of information, independence of media, right to be elected.
